For the first half of the week camp participants will learn through presentations and teamwork about engineering and physics from current MESA students. They will also be able to apply this knowledge by participating in cooperative build challenges and activities, and learn presentation skills by presenting their group findings to the other campers. Throughout the camp, they will be able to develop relationships with MESA mentors and their peers from across the county. They will also be able to learn more about MESA and Albemarle High School from both high school mentors and the overall camp experience.
The camp experience will culminate with the designing and building of a wooden pedestrian bridge. At the end of the week, participants will be able to see how their hard work will pay off, and how they can use their talents in math and science to serve the community.
