After taking the day off for elections in the AHS building, the campers and mentors came back on Wednesday ready to dive into building and new physics concepts. The day started off with more catapult building, during which the campers learned how to use screw drivers. They then came back inside and were excited to hear Chiara Arch and Kaitlyn Barger from Draper Aden speak about engineering careers, higher engineering education, and being a woman in STEM.
The campers finished and tested their catapults before coming back inside for lessons on Newton's Laws and the forces of tension and compression. They applied these laws in activities, and then went back outside to cut the wood for the deck of the bridge they would be building for the Albemarle community.
Finally, everyone finished up the day with a tower build challenge and went home ready for Thursday, the last day of camp in the AHS library.
